From November 25th to 29th, 2024, the Chairman of the Autonomous Region, Lantian Li, led a Guangxi delegation to visit Indonesia to implement the important consensus reached between General Secretary Xi Jinping and Indonesian leaders at the local level, implement the spirit of the China Indonesia Joint Statement, deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields with Indonesia, serve the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and contribute Guangxi's strength to the promotion of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and the construction of the China Indonesia community with a shared future.

Unity across mountains and seas, working hand in hand to promote a win-win situation. During the 5-day visit, the Guangxi delegation met with political leaders, visited sister cities, inspected enterprises, carried out economic and trade promotion, cultural exchanges and other activities, and achieved practical results in promoting economic and trade cooperation and friendly exchanges between Guangxi and Indonesia.

Consolidate consensus and enhance mutual trust

During his stay in Indonesia, Lantian Li led a delegation from Guangxi to visit the Indonesian Minister of Economic Affairs, Ailanga, and Minister of Human Development and Culture, Pradino. He held talks with Deputy Minister of Industry, Faisal, Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries, Nurur, and Acting Governor of West Java Province, Mahmuddin, respectively.

Blue Sky Standing stated during the visit and talks that China and Indonesia face each other across the sea, and the friendly relations between the two countries have a long history.     The two countries jointly issued a Joint Statement, proposing a series of important measures to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership and the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Indonesia. As the forefront and window of China's open cooperation with ASEAN, Guangxi is willing to work with all sectors of Indonesia to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, further deepen practical cooperation in industrial parks, vocational education, cultural exchanges and other fields, expand the scale of two-way trade and investment, and better serve the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Indonesia at the local level.

Ailangga, Pradino, and others highly appreciate the achievements of Guangxi's economic and social development and opening-up cooperation. They stated that Indonesia and Guangxi have deep ties and close cooperation, and the visit of the Guangxi delegation is a practical action to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. We look forward to further deepening pragmatic cooperation with Guangxi in areas such as economy and trade, industry and agriculture, vocational education, culture and tourism, and sister cities, actively promoting new developments in the friendly relations between Indonesia and Guangxi.

Deepen cooperation and promote development together

Deepening international economic and trade cooperation is an important part of the Guangxi delegation's visit. On the 28th, the China (Guangxi) - Indonesia Key Project Signing and Bilateral Promotion Conference was held in Jakarta. Representatives from various cities and key parks in Guangxi, as well as Indonesian politicians and business figures, gathered together to discuss new opportunities for cooperation. Nurur, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong, and Indonesian Consul General in Guangzhou Bindega attended the event.

In his speech, Lantianli stated that Guangxi is one of the provinces with the closest exchanges and cooperation between China and Indonesia. He is willing to work with all parties to deepen industrial cooperation, jointly build open platforms, and expand global markets. Based on the China Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone and other areas, we will consolidate and enhance cooperation in new energy vehicles, machinery and equipment, and explore the potential for cooperation in energy minerals, halal certification, digital economy, lithium batteries, and other fields; Seize the opportunity of the China ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 version and jointly participate in the construction of open platforms such as border and port industrial parks, China ASEAN industrial cooperation zones, and China ASEAN Modern Craftsmen's College; Continuously expanding the scale of trade and investment, achieving deep integration and integration of industrial chains, supply chains, value chains, data chains, and talent chains, and expanding the ASEAN and even global markets.

Nurur stated that China is the second largest source of foreign investment in Indonesia, and the Indonesian government hopes to strengthen deep cooperation with China, especially Guangxi, in areas such as infrastructure, new energy, product processing, and human resources, and play an important role in jointly building the global value chain.

Wang Lutong fully affirmed the positive achievements of practical cooperation between Guangxi and Indonesia in various fields, and expressed that the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Indonesia has entered a new stage of "real-life picture". He hoped that entrepreneurs from both sides would actively explore and cooperate sincerely, and jointly inject new vitality into the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Indonesia.

A total of 14 projects were signed on-site at the promotion event, with a total amount exceeding 6 billion yuan, covering multiple fields such as energy, logistics, new materials, and finance. At the meeting, a UnionPay Splendid China Guangxi themed card release ceremony was also held.

During his visit to Indonesia, Lantianli also met with Huang Pengnian, Vice President of Jinguang Group, in Jakarta to exchange views on increasing investment in Guangxi, deepening industrial cooperation, and jointly building industrial parks; Witnessing the signing of the contract between Liuzhou Vocational and Technical University and the China Indonesia Vocational Education Industry Education Alliance with the Indonesian Vocational Education Presidents Joint Conference. In Wujiasi County, West Java Province, attended the offline ceremony of SAIC GM Wuling Indonesia's 160000 vehicle and Wuling's "Cloud" export model, supporting Guangxi enterprises to actively explore overseas markets and participate in the process of economic globalization; Attend the unveiling ceremony of the China Indonesia New Energy Vehicle Modern Craftsmanship College Training Base, and promote the deepening of vocational education and talent training cooperation between Guangxi and Indonesia; Visit and inspect the China Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone to promote further upgrading of international production capacity cooperation between China and Indonesia.

It is reported that the total import and export volume between Guangxi and Indonesia has increased significantly for three consecutive years. From January to October , 2024, the total import and export volume between the two sides was 17.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 70.6%. Enterprises such as SAIC GM Wuling, Liugong, Guixin Steel, and Guoxuan High tech have developed well in Indonesia.

Close communication and continuation of friendship

The history of exchanges between China and Indonesia has exceeded a thousand years, and cultural exchanges have a profound historical and folk foundation. In recent years, Guangxi has had close exchanges and cooperation with Indonesia in the fields of education, culture, tourism, health, and other humanities. The joint construction of two modern craftsmanship colleges by both parties has provided assistance for the training of local technical and skilled talents in Indonesia; Establish 5 pairs of friendly cities. Recently, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries awarded the "Excellent Partner Award for Friendly Cities with China" to West Java Province, a sister city of Guangxi, fully affirming the effectiveness of exchanges and cooperation between the two sister cities.

In West Java Province, the Guangxi delegation visited the West Java Handicraft Association, watched traditional dances accompanied by the world intangible cultural heritage and Indonesian traditional instrument Angeron, and had cordial exchanges with Guangxi students studying in Bandung. Lantian Li said that both Guangxi and Indonesia have rich historical and cultural heritage as well as diverse ethnic traditional cultures. He hopes that Indonesian friends can bring more local specialty products to Guangxi and the China ASEAN Expo. He also hopes that everyone can become friendly ambassadors for exchanges between Guangxi and Indonesia, actively participate in exchanges and exchanges between the two places, and contribute to the friendship between China and Indonesia.

2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference. During their stay in Indonesia, the Guangxi delegation visited the Bandung Conference Museum.
