Gan Chenghui convened an on-site working meeting at the China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, calling for thorough implementation of the guiding remarks delivered by the leadership of the Autonomous Region People’s Congress and for well-planned next-step development of the zone.

From October 27 to 31, Gan Chenghui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Agricultural Reclamation Bureau and Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Agricultural Reclamation Group, convened a field office meeting at the China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (hereinafter referred to as the “Cooperation Zone”), where he urged the zone to earnestly implement the spirit of the speech delivered by the leadership of the Autonomous Region People’s Congress, accelerate the construction of Phase II of the Cooperation Zone, proactively plan for its long-term development, and set forth specific requirements for the next steps.

During their on-site visit to the Cooperation Zone, Gan Chenghui and his delegation reviewed the zone’s construction and development and extended greetings and condolences to Chinese employees who have been working in Indonesia for an extended period. At the Cooperation Zone’s office building, after listening to a work report from the zone’s head, Gan Chenghui stated that “going global” is a key pillar of Guangxi Agricultural Reclamation Group, and that the Cooperation Zone occupies a vital position in the Group’s overseas expansion efforts. Guangxi Agricultural Reclamation Group attaches great importance to the construction and development of the Cooperation Zone and is deeply concerned about the working and living conditions of its employees. Gan Chenghui emphasized that transforming the zone from a barren, undeveloped landscape into today’s thriving industrial hub filled with factories has been no easy feat, and he expressed full recognition of the achievements made in the zone’s development.

In conjunction with implementing the spirit of the speech delivered by the leadership of the Autonomous Region People’s Congress, Gan Chenghui put forward specific requirements for accelerating the next phase of development in the Cooperation Zone. First, thoroughly review the experiences and lessons learned from the first-phase development, clarify the roadmap for the next stage, and draw valuable insights to inform the second-phase rollout. Second, expedite the construction of second-phase projects and intensify investment promotion within the zone, while reducing financial costs, so as to achieve economic returns at an early date. Third, proactively plan for business expansion, think outside the box, and actively explore a wide range of cooperation opportunities, thereby establishing the Cooperation Zone’s brand in Indonesia and transforming it from a bridgehead for Guangxi’s “going global” strategy into a key platform for China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Fourth, conduct thorough research on capital repatriation to make greater contributions to the headquarters of the Agricultural Reclamation Group. Fifth, instruct relevant departments at headquarters to tailor their approaches to local conditions, taking into account Indonesia’s unique characteristics and regulatory framework, strengthen guidance and coordination for the Cooperation Zone’s development, and, where necessary, establish a “green channel” to provide robust support for its growth. Sixth, the Cooperation Zone must reinforce integrity and clean governance among its overseas subsidiaries, standardize all aspects of corporate management, and foster a clean, upright, and conducive environment for work and entrepreneurship.

Li Dong, Deputy General Manager of Guangxi Agricultural Reclamation Group, along with heads of the Asset Management Department, Finance Department, Office, Strategic Development Department, and other relevant departments, put forward pertinent opinions and suggestions on the next phase of development for the Cooperation Zone and conducted in-depth coordination on related business matters. Relevant personnel from the Cooperation Zone company attended the on-site working meeting.

Additional news: On October 30, Gan Chenghui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the State Farm Administration and Party Secretary and Chairman of the China National Agricultural Reclamation Group, paid a special visit to the Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia and met with Minister-Counselor Wang Liping. Mr. Gan expressed his gratitude for the long-standing assistance and support provided by the Commercial Counselor’s Office and the Embassy in the construction and development of the Cooperation Zone, and hoped that Minister-Counselor Wang would continue to lend his attention and support to the Zone’s development. He also briefly outlined the next phase of the Cooperation Zone’s development direction. In response, Minister-Counselor Wang stated that the Cooperation Zone is a flagship project of China in Indonesia, receiving high priority from relevant national authorities. The Commercial Counselor’s Office will actively support the second-phase development and construction of the Zone, as well as its expansion into new business areas and its long-term establishment in Indonesia.

During his stay in Indonesia, Gan Chenghui also met with Mr. Li Hongming and Ms. Tan Danlu, the Indonesian partners of the Cooperation Zone, where the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on further accelerating land acquisition for Phase II and the development and construction of the project.
