Head of the Cooperation Zone Attends Bekasi Regency Government’s Briefing on Policies to Expand Employment Opportunities
On July 11, the Bekasi Regency Government hosted the 2019 Bekasi Regency Expanded Employment Policy Briefing Session—China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone Special—in the Cooperation Zone. The event was organized by the Bekasi Regency Labor Office and co-hosted by companies in the Cooperation Zone and Valmet Technology Center, a park-based enterprise. The head of the Cooperation Zone was invited to attend the meeting.
At the meeting, Edi Loeyadi, Head of the Bekasi Regency Labor Office, presented an overview of the region’s human resource situation. He noted that Indonesia’s investment climate has improved significantly in recent years, and that Bekasi Regency, owing to its proximity to the capital Jakarta, has emerged as the largest industrial hub in Indonesia and even Southeast Asia. In 2018, Bekasi Regency offered more than 1.76 million job opportunities, yet it attracted only about 1.4 million workers, highlighting a severe labor shortage. He urged local enterprises to prioritize the recruitment of indigenous workers and to enhance communication and coordination with the government, so that the authorities can obtain real-time insights into labor demand and thereby expand employment opportunities. At the same time, Edi expressed his gratitude for the cooperative zone’s proactive cooperation, commended its substantial contributions to the local community, and voiced strong confidence in the zone’s future prospects.
The head of the Cooperation Zone stated that the Bekasi Regency Government’s designation of the zone as a venue for policy briefings reflects its trust in and recognition of the Cooperation Zone, and that the zone is committed to working closely with the local government to expand local employment and contribute to the region’s economic and social development. More than 30 enterprises operating within the Cooperation Zone attended the meeting.
