On April 25, a five-member delegation from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Council for the Promotion of International Trade, led by Li Changguan, President of the council, visited the Cooperation Zone for an inspection and research tour. The head of the Cooperation Zone extended a warm welcome to the delegation.

Accompanied by the head of the Cooperation Zone, Li Changguan and his delegation visited the Cooperation Zone’s office building and Mengniu’s Indonesian production facility, and then held a symposium at the office building. The head of the Cooperation Zone expressed gratitude for the Guangxi Council for the Promotion of International Trade’s longstanding strong support for the zone, briefed the delegation on the background of the zone’s development and the progress of Phase I construction, and provided a detailed report on the status of Phase II development as well as the vision for transforming the zone into a “smart” industrial park. He also expressed the hope that the Council would continue to pay close attention to and support the zone’s development.

President Li Changguan stated that the Guangxi Council for the Promotion of International Trade’s current mission on its visit to Southeast Asia is to conduct research and gain a thorough understanding of the “going global” initiatives of Guangxi-based enterprises, explore how the Council can better serve these enterprises in their overseas expansion, and provide robust support for building overseas investment platforms. President Li highly commended the achievements made in the development of the cooperation zone. He noted that, after more than a decade of development, the zone has emerged as an overseas industrial park with a solid foundation, distinctive features, notable highlights, and tangible results. As Indonesia was the theme country of the China–ASEAN Expo in 2019, the cooperation zone should seize this opportunity, tap its potential, and strengthen communication and collaboration. At the same time, the zone should make full use of the platforms provided by the China–ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and the Council for the Promotion of International Trade to enhance promotion and publicity efforts, intensify investment attraction targeting high-quality enterprises, and strive to establish the cooperation zone as a flagship Chinese-branded park in Indonesia. In doing so, it will help chart a replicable path for the development of China’s overseas economic and trade cooperation zones and provide a model for Guangxi’s overseas parks.

Relevant officials from the Guangxi Council for the Promotion of International Trade accompanied the inspection.
