China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone Bolsters Pandemic Defenses and Fully Advances Vaccination Campaign
Since 2021, the Cooperation Zone has actively responded to the Indonesian government’s call and accelerated the vaccination of employees at enterprises within the zone against COVID-19. As of the end of August 2021, a total of 2,721 individuals in the zone had received the COVID-19 vaccine, including 1,284 who had completed the two-dose regimen and 1,437 who had received the first dose. Going forward, the China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone will further promote vaccination among employees of zone-based enterprises, comprehensively increase the vaccination rate, and effectively strengthen the defense against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indonesian Company Wanjie Holds Launch Event for Vaccine Syringe Exports to Europe and UNICEF
Recently, Indonesia Wanjie Co., Ltd., an enterprise operating within the China-India Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, successfully exported disposable syringes and auto-disable syringes (ADS) in response to requests from UNICEF and Ukraine’s IRRA, totaling 200 containers—approximately 150 million ADS syringes.

Overcoming the Impact of the Pandemic, China-Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone Achieves New Breakthroughs in Investment Attraction
On the morning of July 30, 2021, the China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (hereinafter referred to as the “Cooperation Zone”) formally signed a land purchase agreement with Hong Kong ESR Redwood Group (hereinafter referred to as “ESR”). The ESR project marks the first major investment project introduced by the Cooperation Zone since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020; the land transaction covers approximately 65,000 square meters, making it the largest land deal in the Cooperation Zone’s history since 2014.

China-Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone Conducts Eid al-Adha Care Visit
July 20, 2021, marked Eid al-Adha, one of Indonesia’s most important traditional festivals. While the pandemic has been relentless, human compassion endures. In the lead-up to Eid al-Adha, recognizing that impoverished residents in villages surrounding the cooperation zone have been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in acute shortages of food and daily necessities, the cooperation zone, while steadfastly maintaining rigorous epidemic prevention and control measures, has also actively fulfilled its social responsibility. On July 18, the zone, in collaboration with resident enterprises, organized a慰问 (comfort) visit to local villagers, aiming to help them celebrate Eid al-Adha. Through these outreach activities, the cooperation zone and its resident companies have further strengthened their cooperation and exchanges with neighboring villagers, working together to combat the pandemic and overcome this challenging period.

May 12–13, 2021, marked Eid al-Fitr, an important traditional festival in Indonesia. This year was particularly unusual, as the global pandemic continued to rage and countries around the world were engaged in intensive efforts to combat it. In light of the severe shortages of food and daily necessities faced by impoverished residents in villages surrounding the cooperation zone as Eid approached, the zone, while steadfastly maintaining rigorous epidemic prevention and control measures, also actively fulfilled its social responsibility. On May 7, in coordination with the local government, the zone organized a慰问 (comfort) visit to local villagers, providing assistance to help them celebrate Eid al-Fitr. Through these outreach activities, the zone has continuously strengthened cooperation and communication with the local government and neighboring villagers, working together to fight the pandemic and overcome this challenging period.

Fan Zhiming, Chairman of the Cooperation Zone, Visits the High-tech Zone to Inspect the Jointly Built International Friendship and Cooperation Park
On October 17, Fan Zhiming, Chairman of the China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, together with General Manager Chen Yaomin, visited the Yancheng High-tech Industrial Development Zone to conduct a fact-finding mission on jointly building an international friendly cooperation park. Lei Gang, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of the Yancheng High-tech Industrial Development Zone, accompanied the delegation during the visit. During the symposium, Fan Zhiming provided a detailed overview of the development history, locational advantages, industrial layout, and management model of the China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, while Lei Gang outlined the general profile of the Yancheng High-tech Industrial Development Zone, its leading industries, and its industrial layout.

Unremitting Efforts in Attracting Investment and Ensuring Continuous Development Momentum — New Enterprises Established in the Cooperation Zone During the Pandemic
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, the China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (hereinafter referred to as the “Cooperation Zone”) has simultaneously prioritized epidemic prevention and control and business operations, striving to mitigate the adverse impact of the pandemic on investment promotion within the zone. Recently, despite the fact that the prospective investor had only conducted two on-site visits to the Cooperation Zone, the Zone’s Investment Promotion Department made full use of WeChat, email, and other communication channels to maintain close coordination and dialogue with PT. NAYA GLOBAL CHEMICAL (hereinafter referred to as NGC). By putting itself in the investor’s shoes and addressing their urgent needs, the two parties formally signed a factory lease agreement on September 21, 2020, thereby providing a strong boost to the development of standard factories within the Cooperation Zone.

On August 18, 2020, the “Hong Kong–Indonesia: Jointly Unlocking Business Opportunities” seminar was held online. Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Carrie Lam, Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Mahendra Siregar, Chinese Foreign Ministry Commissioner to the HKSAR Xie Feng, and Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Xiao Qian delivered remarks at the event, which drew more than 900 business leaders and professionals from Hong Kong and Indonesia to participate virtually.

The Cooperation Zone Extends Eid al-Adha Condolences to Surrounding Communities
On July 28, enterprises jointly located in the Cooperation Zone donated supplies to Naghashali Village, where the zone is situated, to celebrate together the Islamic Eid al-Adha of 1441 AH. Eid al-Adha is a major festival for Muslims, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. In accordance with local customs, the Cooperation Zone extended festive greetings and condolences to the residents of Naghashali Village and its surrounding areas.

Fan Zhiming, Chairman of the China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, Attends the Online Exchange Meeting on Overseas Security Risk Management Amid the Pandemic and on Accelerating the Resumption of Work and Production by Guangxi Enterprises “Going Global”
On June 10, 2020, the online symposium on Overseas Safety Risk Management in the Context of the Pandemic and on Accelerating the Resumption of Work and Production among Guangxi-based Enterprises “Going Global,” hosted by the Department of Commerce of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was successfully held. Fan Zhiming, Chairman of the China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, was invited to attend the event, where he shared his experience in participating in the development of overseas economic and trade cooperation zones. Drawing on the current global pandemic situation and its impact on investment in Indonesia, as well as case studies of several Chinese enterprises, he also outlined best practices for epidemic prevention and control abroad. During his presentation, Fan Zhiming emphasized that the China–Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone is the first national-level integrated zone established by China in Indonesia, bringing together industrial production, warehousing, and trade.
